I was born and raised in Kennewick and graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1980. After taking my first 3 years of college at Eastern Washing University in Cheney, WA, I transferred to the University of Washington in 1983 and graduated in 1985 with my degree in Physical Therapy.
My first job out of college was at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, which provided me with a wonderful opportunity to work with patients diagnosed with a wide variety of medical conditions. I then joined the Sports Medicine rehab team at Northwest Hospital and greatly enjoyed working with their patients, most of whom were recovering from extremity orthopedic injuries and surgeries. The opportunity to raise our two children back home, in this wonderful community surrounded by our families and friends, is what brought us back to Kennewick and what led us to open Hughes Physical Therapy in February of 1990.
The many years since the start of the clinic have flown by and kept us very busy. In addition to raising a family, I have tried to stay active with a variety of pursuits, such as running road and trail races, pursuing triathlon events, playing softball, competing in mud runs, trying yoga, and over the last 8 years, working out a few times per week at CrossFit classes. I also cheer passionately for our local teams including area high schools, colleges and the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and Kraken.
Most recently, the joy of our lives has been the addition of grandchildren to our family. Tami and I eagerly anticipate continued growth in these numbers in the coming years. It is not lost to me how blessed I am and am grateful for all that life has brought me.
